Zambia's Political Earthquake: Lubinda's PF Faction Dumps Tonse Alliance, Forms 'Pamodzi Alliance'!

The Given Lubinda-led faction of the Patriotic Front (PF) has officially announced its withdrawal from the Tonse Alliance, concurrently unveiling a new political entity named the PF Pamodzi Alliance. The significant development was declared by faction acting leader Given Lubinda on Wednesday in Lusaka. Lubinda cited persistent confusion and unresolved internal disagreements within the Tonse Alliance as the primary reasons driving the faction's decision to break away.

During the formal unveiling of the new alliance, Lubinda addressed his faction members, urging them to sever all ties with their former alliance partners. He emphasized that going forward, their unwavering loyalty must be exclusively directed towards the newly established PF Pamodzi Alliance. Furthermore, in a timely appeal on the eve of Youth Day, Lubinda encouraged young people to foster unity and collaborate solely with members of this new political bloc.

Lubinda articulated the ambitious objective of the PF Pamodzi Alliance, stating emphatically, “The PF Pamodzi Alliance is the only political formation capable of unseating Hakainde Hichilema and his government in the upcoming elections.” He further elaborated that the resolution to formally abandon the Tonse Alliance was reached earlier in the week, following thorough deliberations by the faction’s council of leaders and central committee.

The newly formed alliance is envisioned as a broad-based movement, seeking to bring together various political parties, civic organizations, and grassroots supporters who resonate with its overarching vision. Lubinda's declaration of the new alliance was met with enthusiasm, as he presented it as “the latest, the most positive alliance that is going to remove the new alliance. Ladies and gentlemen, introducing the PF Pamodzi Alliance.” The PF faction has extended an open invitation to its members and other like-minded political groupings to rally behind the PF Pamodzi Alliance in preparation for the crucial 2026 general elections.
