Yobe Health Blueprint: 2025 Review Set To Transform Healthcare Delivery

The Yobe State Primary Healthcare Board (YSPHCB), in significant collaboration with esteemed development partners including UNICEF, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF), and the Dangote Foundation, recently convened its 2025 Biannual Technical Performance Review Meeting. This high-level gathering was held at the Desert Multi-Purpose Hall in Damaturu, bringing together key stakeholders from across the state.
A statement issued by Adamu Saidu Abba, Information Officer of the Board, highlighted that the meeting assembled Directors of Primary Healthcare and Local Government Area (LGA) teams. The primary objectives were to thoroughly assess program performance, meticulously evaluate progress achieved against established key milestones, and collectively chart a strategic course for the sustained improvement of primary healthcare service delivery throughout Yobe State.
The Executive Secretary of the Board, Dr. Babagana Kundi Machina, who was represented by Dr. Umar Chiroma, Director of Immunization and Disease Control, formally declared the meeting open. In his address, he urged all LGA teams to intensify their efforts in providing accessible and high-quality primary healthcare services to the populace. Dr. Machina underscored the paramount importance of implementing data-driven strategies and maintaining rigorous accountability to achieve demonstrably better health outcomes across the state.
The review session was characterized by detailed presentations that showcased program performance at the LGA level. Dr. Chiroma took a leading role in facilitating comprehensive discussions on various implementation challenges encountered and actively proposed actionable steps and strategic resolutions designed to advance the state's healthcare initiatives effectively. Ibrahim Maikasuwa, FSI, who serves as the Director of Community and Family Health, delivered opening remarks, warmly welcoming participants and expressing profound commendation for the continuous and invaluable support provided by the development partners.
Representatives from a diverse consortium of international and local organizations further reinforced the collaborative spirit of the meeting by delivering goodwill messages. These included delegates from UNICEF, the World Health Organization (WHO), the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF), SOLINA, CHAI, TA Connect, Lafiya UK, and the Chigari Foundation. Each representative reaffirmed their unwavering commitment to bolstering and strengthening Yobe State’s primary healthcare system, ensuring a collective drive towards improved public health.
