WNBA All-Star Sends Clear Thoughts on Angel Reese's Talent
Satou Sabally of the Phoenix Mercury was the latest guest on Just Women's Sports' podcast "Between the Lines." Host and WNBA legend Lisa Leslie asked the 27-year-old athlete who she thinks the next WNBA unicorns are based on athletes she has played against so far.
In basketball, a "unicorn" refers to a player with a rare and exceptional combination of skills and physical attributes, often involving a combination of height and guard-like abilities, making them a mismatch for most opponents.
"I like Angel [Reese] because she is really a 6'5" post that brings the ball up," Sabally said. That was something that made me stand out a little bit, that you are this tall and can bring up the ball and you can actually set up a play."
The last time Chicago Sky's Reese played against Sabally and the Mercury was on May 27, where the Mercury won with a final score of 94-89. Sabally was traded from the Dallas Wings to the Phoenix Mercury in a four-team trade in February, and the Wings played against the Sky three times during the 2024 WNBA season.

"Kiki [Iriafen], I would say she's also a young rookie that I've been a fan of because she's also in that high post," the German-American athlete explained. "She can shoot the three, and I'm talking about more now about taller players, but I'm just about to move a little bit more laterally and are able to guard multiple positions."
Iriafen, a 21-year-old athlete who was the fourth overall pick in the 2025 WNBA draft, plays for the Washington Mystics. The Mercury beat the Mystics on May 25 with a tight score of 68-62. They are set to play against each other again on July 27.
