EFCC Seeks Fargo Petroleum MD for Alleged N976m Subsidy Fraud

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has officially declared Seun Ogunbambo, the Managing Director of Fargo Petroleum and Gas Limited, wanted. This declaration comes after Ogunbambo allegedly defrauded the Federal Government of Nigeria of over ₦976.65 million through fraudulent oil subsidy claims. The anti-graft agency issued a public notice on Friday, confirming that Ogunbambo is now a fugitive from justice, having jumped bail while standing trial at a Lagos State High Court. He has since failed to appear in court, prompting the EFCC's urgent appeal to the public for information on his whereabouts.
Ogunbambo was facing prosecution alongside Mamman Ali and Christian Taylor in connection with the same fuel subsidy scam. On Tuesday, May 27, 2025, the Lagos State High Court found both Ali and Taylor guilty of their roles in the fraudulent scheme and sentenced them to 14 years in prison each. While his co-defendants received their sentencing, Ogunbambo absconded after being granted bail and has not been seen since.
According to Dele Oyewale, Head of Media and Publicity for the EFCC, the fraudulent claim amounted to exactly ₦976,653,110.28. This substantial sum was allegedly presented as payment for petroleum products that were purportedly imported into the country but were never, in fact, delivered. The commission has emphasized the gravity of the fraud and the importance of bringing Ogunbambo to justice.
The public notice provided a description of Seun Ogunbambo, noting that he is light-skinned and fluent in both English and Yoruba. His last traced location was identified as No. 2, Olamijuyuan Crescent in Ikoyi, Lagos. The EFCC has sternly warned the public against offering any form of protection or assistance to Ogunbambo. They have appealed to anyone with useful information regarding his whereabouts to contact any of their offices across the country, including those in Lagos, Abuja, Enugu, Kano, Gombe, Port Harcourt, Ibadan, Benin, Kaduna, Sokoto, Makurdi, Ilorin, Maiduguri, or Uyo.
