The Atlanta Dream came into Gainbridge Fieldhouse to battle Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever on Friday night with some high hopes. The Dream are coming off a 90-81 victory against the Golden State Valkyries in their last outing and are looking to make it two in a row on Friday.

Atlanta’s prospects took a massive blow in the second quarter after a scary injury to three-time All-Star Rhyne Howard. The 6-foot-2 guard fell on the ground after a rebound battle with Lexie Hull of the Fever. On replay, it looked like Howard’s knee buckled, and the injury appeared to be non-contact.
Howard had to be carried off the court as she immediately made her way back to the locker room after sustaining the injury.
The bad news for the Dream is that the injury did not look good. Howard seemed to be in significant pain, and the fact that she had to be helped off the floor does not bode well for her status moving forward.

As of writing, there has been no official update from Atlanta yet. However, she was seen warming up during the halftime break. She seemed to be moving fine, which means that she could potentially return to this game.
Howard, who was recently named as part of Team Collier in what will be her third All-Star appearance in four seasons in the WNBA, has been a key piece for the Dream this season. Entering Friday’s game, the former Kentucky star has averaged 16.7 points, 5.1 rebounds, 4.7 assists and 1.7 steals, while also knocking down 2.9 triples per contest.
