Wimbledon: Hugh Grant TROLLED for falling asleep behind Queen Camilla in Royal box during Novak Djokovic match
Hollywood star Hugh Grant stole the spotlight at the Wimbledon quarter finals after being caught taking a nap during the match. The actor, who got his seat in the coveted Royal box, just behind Queen Camilla, went viral on social media for taking a nap during a high-stakes match.
The Notting Hill star was recorded on-camera, initially chatting with the Queen. However, during the match, he seemed to have nodded off as Serbia’s Novak Djokovic went head-to-head with Italy’s Flavio Cobolli. In the videos doing the rounds online, the star appears to be dozing sitting comfortably in his seat.
Grant attended the match with his wife, Anna Elisabet Eberstein. The viral clip sparked a wave of online commentary and criticism. Some fans were amused, while others weren’t as forgiving in their posts that read, “People have been queuing since 3am to get into Wimbledon to have a chance to be at this match… and Hugh Grant slept through the tiebreak.
Frankly, I think it is rude.”
The actor’s mid-match nap caused even more buzz because of its location, directly behind Queen Camilla, who remained fully alert during the match, discussing the game. Other celebrities spotted in the Royal Box included David Beckham, Jessica Alba, Olivia Rodrigo, John Cena, and Glen Powell, making it one of the starriest days yet at this year’s championship.Early this week, Wimbeldon played host to Bollywood star couple Anushka Sharma and Virat Kohli. The two had all eyes on them as they watched one of the many matches. This one also marked their return to the stands after a decade. They were last seen making an appearance at the games, back in 2015.
