Willem Defoe And Lily-Rose Depp In Talks To Join Robert Eggers' 'Werwulf' - mxdwn Movies
the cast of Eggers’ next film, Werwulf.

Aaron Taylor-Johnson is set to lead the feature, and Eggers is set to direct with a script that he co-wrote with Sjón, with whom he co-wrote The Northman. Focus Features will produce and finance the film, along with Eggers and Sjón will also produce along with Working Title’s Eric Fellner and Tim Bevan. Chris and Eleanor Columbus will be executive producing under the Maiden Voyage banner.

Dafoe has become one of Eggers’ frequent collaborators, having appeared in three of his films: The Lighthouse, The Northman, and Nosferatu. The pair is also in talks of collaborating yet again in a new adaptation of Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol that will have Eggers in his usual director’s chair, and early talks that Dafoe will portray the cold and callous Scrooge. While Nosferatu was Lily-Rose Depp’s first collaboration with Eggers, she blew audiences and critics alike away with her performance as the tormented Ellen Hutter; it would be interesting to see if Eggers and her team up once more for this feature.

No details about Werwulf’s plot have been released as of yet, but it can be inferred by the name and Eggers’ track record that it will be based around the mythical and dangerous creature. Werwulf is already confirmed to be released on Christmas Day 2026 in North America.
