In June 2025, at the annual Skytrax World Airline Awards ceremony held at the Paris Air & Space Museum during the Paris Air Show, Cathay Pacific solidified its status among the globe’s elite carriers. The World Airline Awards are widely regarded as the aviation industry’s equivalent of the Oscars. They are based purely on global passenger feedback—over 100 nationalities participated in the Skytrax survey conducted between September 2024 and May 2025. In total, passengers rated more than 325 airlines. Importantly, Skytrax functions independently; airlines do not pay to enter or influence results, while all survey and event costs are covered by the organizing body.

Cathay’s Economy Class offering was once again lauded as the best in the world. This endorsement suggests that, even in its most affordable cabin, the airline maintains top-tier levels of comfort, service consistency, and in-flight amenities.

Equally, its entertainment system received the industry’s highest recognition. Skytrax ranked Cathay’s selection of films, TV shows, video games, user interface, and audio options above all other carriers—outpacing heavyweights such as Emirates and Qatar Airways.

Chief Customer and Commercial Officer Lavinia Lau accepted the awards in Paris on behalf of the airline, emphasizing her gratitude to both customers and employees for their unwavering dedication—expressing that these achievements serve to elevate the airline’s drive to become a premier global service brand.

Cathay Group has committed over in a seven-year transformational strategy aimed at reinforcing Hong Kong’s position as a major aviation hub—especially in tandem with the Hong Kong International Airport’s new Three-Runway System.
