is set to strengthen its presence in the Southern Hemisphere by significantly expanding its flight services to both Australia and New Zealand for the 2025 summer season. With nearly 100 weekly flights scheduled from its Hong Kong hub, the airline is responding to increased travel demand and the need for greater connectivity. The enhancements include double-daily flights to Brisbane and Perth, along with new seasonal services to Adelaide, Cairns, Christchurch, and Auckland. This expansion aims to offer more flexibility and convenience for travelers, while reaffirming Cathay Pacific’s commitment to supporting global tourism recovery and catering to the growing needs of the market.
Cathay Pacific, a key member of the Oneworld alliance, is set to boost its services between Hong Kong and Australia/New Zealand, with nearly 100 flights scheduled each week for the upcoming southern hemisphere summer travel season, starting in late October 2025. This expansion reflects the airline’s commitment to meeting increasing demand for air travel to and from the region as the travel industry rebounds.
Starting on 27 October 2025, Cathay Pacific will elevate its flight frequency to Brisbane and Perth, providing travelers with more options than ever before. The number of weekly flights to both cities will increase to double-daily services, a significant leap from the current frequency of 12 and 11 weekly flights, respectively. These additional services will boost passenger capacity and improve overall connectivity.
The increase in flights to Perth marks an impressive 40% surge in capacity compared to pre-pandemic levels in 2019, underscoring Cathay Pacific’s strong commitment to revitalizing and expanding its footprint in the region. The increase in service to Brisbane will also see a record high in flight frequency, offering greater flexibility and convenience for passengers traveling to one of Australia’s most popular destinations.
Cathay Pacific’s summer expansion doesn’t stop with Brisbane and Perth. The airline is also reinstating services to Adelaide, marking the return of a seasonal service starting on 12 November 2025. Additionally, a new seasonal route connecting Hong Kong and Cairns will begin operations on 10 December 2025, providing an exciting option for travelers eager to explore Australia’s tropical regions.
The airline’s Australian network will also include multiple daily flights from Sydney and Melbourne, further strengthening Cathay Pacific’s extensive connections to key Australian cities. This wide-reaching network will give passengers traveling from Hong Kong easy access to popular destinations in Australia, from the cosmopolitan hubs of Sydney and Melbourne to the more relaxed and scenic Brisbane and Perth.
Alongside its expanded Australian routes, Cathay Pacific is also significantly boosting its services to New Zealand. Flights to Auckland will be increased from a daily service to 11 weekly flights, starting on 2 December 2025. This adjustment comes in response to growing demand, providing passengers with more options to travel between Hong Kong and New Zealand’s largest city.
Moreover, Cathay Pacific will introduce a seasonal service to Christchurch, New Zealand, starting on 3 November 2025. This addition will open up new travel possibilities for those wishing to visit New Zealand’s South Island, known for its stunning landscapes, adventure tourism, and charming city atmosphere.
The growth in services to Australia and New Zealand is part of Cathay Pacific’s broader strategy to expand its global footprint. As of late 2025, the Cathay Group, which also includes its low-cost subsidiary HK Express, will serve 100 passenger destinations worldwide. This milestone reflects the airline’s ability to recover and adapt in a rapidly changing aviation landscape, responding to demand with an expanded and diverse network that connects travelers to key destinations across the globe.
Cathay Pacific is expanding its services to Australia and New Zealand for the 2025 summer season, responding to rising travel demand with nearly 100 weekly flights. This boost includes increased frequencies and new seasonal routes, providing greater flexibility for travelers.
Cathay Pacific’s expanded service offerings to Australia and New Zealand for the upcoming summer season demonstrate the airline’s resilience and its commitment to restoring and enhancing its international network. With increased frequencies to major cities like Brisbane, Perth, Sydney, Melbourne, Auckland, and Christchurch, passengers will benefit from greater flexibility and convenience in their travel planning. Whether for business, leisure, or family travel, Cathay Pacific’s extensive reach and strategic network of seasonal and year-round services will make it easier for travelers to explore some of the Southern Hemisphere’s most sought-after destinations.
