Weigh-In Chaos Erupts as Crawford vs Canelo Super-Fight Explodes!

The highly anticipated super-middleweight showdown between Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez and Terence Crawford is set to electrify the Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas. Ahead of what promises to be a historic clash, both fighters successfully made weight, hitting 167.5lbs (12st) on Friday, followed by an intense yet respectful staredown.

However, the pre-fight atmosphere was not without its drama. The official weigh-in was overshadowed by a violent brawl that erupted in the crowd. A shocking clip, exclusively filmed by SunSport, showed a heated melee involving several fans, some wearing Canelo shirts, throwing punches. Security personnel swiftly intervened to separate the brawling parties, bringing a quick end to the disturbance as other spectators watched in disbelief.

Despite the crowd's volatility, both fighters remained focused on the challenge ahead. Canelo, 35, enters the ring defending his undisputed WBC, WBA, IBF, and WBO super-middleweight world titles. He expressed his readiness, stating, "I trained for everything, I need to put everything into this fight."

Terence 'Bud' Crawford, 37, undefeated in 41 fights with titles across four different divisions, aims to make history. Stepping up two divisions to his career-highest weight, Crawford looked noticeably bulkier. He has had to contend with a pro-Latino, pro-Mexican crowd throughout the week, even blowing a kiss to booing fans at the weigh-in, seemingly motivated by the hostility. Crawford's ambition is clear: to become the first male fighter to win undisputed gold in three weight classes. "Greatness means everything to me now because I've got something to do once again," he declared, "No fighter has ever done before and that's become three-time undisputed champion in the male division."

Boxing analyst Shawn Porter, who previously fought Crawford, provided a breakdown of the monumental fight. He described it as a "tremendous fight," highlighting that both Canelo and Crawford are exceptional counter-punchers who also possess the rare ability to lead off offensively. Porter noted Crawford's unique gift of inducing "mental fatigue" in opponents with his stone-cold demeanor, drawing parallels to Floyd Mayweather's approach against Canelo in 2013.

Regarding strategy, Porter anticipates a highly tactical encounter. He believes Canelo will utilize his ability to think hard, jab, and change levels to disrupt Crawford's rhythm. Crawford, conversely, is expected to rely on his footwork. Both fighters are also described as "time managers" in the ring. Porter predicts Canelo might attempt to create more moments and take more shots early on, testing his stamina. However, he sees Crawford as capable of absorbing punishment and, with his unique combination of speed, power, quickness, and intuitive eyes, will likely "switch and turn it on" in the later rounds, specifically from round nine onwards.

Porter ultimately picked Crawford to win, labeling him a "generational talent." For Canelo, already a highly established figure in boxing, this fight is another step towards solidifying his legacy as potentially the greatest Mexican fighter of all time. For Crawford, a victory would cement his status as one of the greatest fighters of his generation, achieving an unprecedented three-time undisputed championship in different weight classes.
