The celebrated artiste, currently on a global tour, made a powerful statement while performing at Kings Cross in London.

Known for using his international status to speak on pressing issues, Bien did not shy away from addressing the violent Saba Saba protests that left several Kenyans dead and injured.

The former Sauti Sol member, who had just arrived in London from a sold-out show in Paris, drew a diverse crowd of fans during the street performance hosted by popular UK-based content creator DJ AG.

The online show, which features major African music stars performing live on the streets, recently hosted Tanzanian singer Diamond Platnumz.

Bien delivered a mix of hits, including Ma Cherie, Extra Pressure, and others from his growing solo catalogue.

He was dressed in a designer outfit topped with a cowboy hat and accompanied, as always, by his now-signature live chicken.

His wife and manager, Chiki Kuruka, stood proudly nearby as fans cheered and waved Kenyan flags in the background.

However, what truly resonated with many was his passionate tribute to those affected by the Saba Saba protests, which were held across 17 counties in Kenya on Monday, July 9.

“Kenya is in the building. We have lost lives in the protests today (Saba Saba), but we will overcome,” Bien said before leading the crowd in anti-government chants and slogans.

The bold move struck a chord with many Kenyans online who praised him for using his international stage to spotlight local issues.

Others cautioned him to tread carefully, given the tensions rocking the country, while some joked about his chicken.

His message came as footage and reports from Kenya showed disturbing scenes of police brutality, deaths, and violent arrests during the protest.

The protests also left behind a trail of destruction, with businesses being vandalised.

When Bien returned to Kenya after his US tour, he made it clear that he would not be intimidated by government agencies for speaking the truth.

His bold remarks followed his explosive interview on The Breakfast Club, where he shed light on the systemic injustices that have been plaguing the country.

The musician firmly stated that his role as an artiste is to be a voice for society, shrugging off any fear of being abducted.
