Vanessa Hudgens Shocks Fans: Her $2.7B Franchise Had Only One Memorable Scene?

Vanessa Hudgens, a prominent star of theHigh School Musicalfranchise, has revealed that a particular scene, the ending musical number "We’re All in This Together," remains her favorite even years after her involvement with the series concluded. The musical, which began as a Disney Channel original movie starring Hudgens and Zac Efron, grew into a hugely successful IP, inspiring two sequels, a concert tour, and a Disney+ show. Despite the franchise's significant box office success, grossing over $2.7 billion, Hudgens shared in an interview with Seventeen Magazine that this specific song holds a special place in her memories.

"We’re All in This Together" is arguably the most fitting conclusion for the ensemble feature, effectively encapsulating all the core themes of the movie. Its cathartic nature is likely why Hudgens considers it her favorite memory from the franchise. Beyond the song itself, Hudgens fondly recalls the rigorous rehearsals and the magical feeling of the performance. She stated, "I feel like the memory that sticks out most in my head from High School Musical is probably filming ‘We’re All In This Together’. All of us…together doing the choreography that we’d be rehearsing for weeks. I don’t know it just felt really magical and still lives to this day." Her co-star,Zac Efron, who appeared with her in "Bad Boys: Ride or Die," shares a similar sentiment, also considering "We’re All in This Together" a high point of their time in the franchise.
Given the immense success of the original High School Musical, particularly its acclaimed musical numbers, follow-up entries were almost inevitable. However, since 2008's "High School Musical 3: Senior Year," there hasn't been a mainline film with the original cast. Although the initial cast had no plans to reprise their roles after the trilogy, as their character arcs were neatly concluded, Disney did envision a fourth movie.

This planned installment was intended to feature a new generation of students at East High but ultimately fizzled out. Instead, fans received "High School Musical: The Musical: The Series," a mockumentary-style show on Disney+ that uses the familiar East High setting for meta-commentary, providing a satisfying alternative for long-time fans. All High School Musical movies and "High School Musical: The Musical: The Series" are available to stream on Disney+ in the USA.
