Urgent Health Alert: B&M Recalls Potentially Contaminated Baby Formula Nationwide

B&M has initiated a recall for several baby formula products from the Aptamil and Kendamil brands due to concerns that some items have passed their expiration dates, rendering them potentially unsafe for consumption. The recall, first issued last month following a customer complaint, affects shoppers who purchased these products from any of the chain's 764 stores.
Specifically, the recalled Aptamil products include First Infant Milk Powder (800g, product code 348054), Follow-On Milk (4x200ml, product code 422087), and Follow-On Milk (700g, product code 422056). The Kendamil products involved in the recall are Kendamil Infant Milk (800g, product code 422378) and Kendamil First Milk (250ml, product code 422381).
B&M's recall notice urges customers who have purchased any of these products with an expiry date of 08/10 or earlier to discontinue use immediately. Consumers are advised to return the affected products to their local B&M store for a full refund or replacement. The company has apologized for any inconvenience and provided contact details for further assistance through local store teams or customer services at 0330 838 9000.
The issue came to light after a customer reported buying baby formula that was nearly a year out of date. B&M acknowledged the error, stating it "falls short of the high standards we set," and confirmed an investigation into how expired products reached store shelves. Advice from the Kendamil website reinforces the importance of checking expiration dates, explaining that expired formula can lose nutrients and pose safety risks to infants.
Danone, the manufacturer of Aptamil, affirmed that ensuring the quality and safety of their products is their "number one priority." They stated that baby formula is strictly regulated and "these products should not have been sold" in the first place. Danone also highlighted that promotional discounts on infant formula are prohibited under UK regulations and their own strict global marketing standards, which all retailers, including B&M, are expected to uphold. Upon being informed, Danone contacted B&M, leading to the immediate removal of the out-of-date products and associated marketing materials.
