The Super Falcons of Nigeria have etched their name in history, clinching a record-extending 10th Women's Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) title. This monumental achievement, dubbed “Mission X,” came after a thrilling 3-2 comeback victory against host nation Morocco in the final held at the Olympic Stadium in Rabat. The win ignited nationwide celebrations and drew commendations from various prominent figures.

The final match was a dramatic spectacle. Morocco took an early lead with goals from Ghiziane Chebbak in the 13th minute and Sanaa Mssoudy in the 24th minute, heading into halftime with a two-goal cushion. However, the Super Falcons, under head coach Justin Madugu, staged a remarkable second-half resurgence. Esther Okoronkwo was instrumental in the comeback, converting a penalty in the 64th minute to pull one back, and then assisting Folashade Ijamilusi for the equalizer in the 71st minute. Okoronkwo's brilliance continued as she found Jennifer Echegini in the 88th minute for the winning goal. During the tense final, Moroccan fans controversially used laser lights to distract Nigerian players, notably targeting Okoronkwo. Post-match, confident defender Michelle Alozie humorously trolled the Moroccan supporters, posting a video with Okoronkwo and the cheeky caption: “Their lasers didn’t work.” Legendary striker Asisat Oshoala, who was introduced later in the game, credited teammates Oluwatosin Demehin and Deborah Abiodun for their significant roles in the victory.
