UN advertised the vacancies on its website and noted that successful candidates will work at the agency for a minimum of two months to a maximum of six months.

It explained that the programme will provide a framework for students from diverse academic backgrounds to gain exposure to the UN through assignments to offices within the Secretariat to enhance their educational and work experience.

"You must upload with your online application, a proof of enrolment stating that you are currently enrolled in a course of study and your expected date of graduation and if you have graduated, a certified copy of your degree. Please ensure that an official letterhead or an official seal is used for the proof of enrollment," the UN stated.

The deadlines to submit academic and professional certificates for the roles range from Wednesday, January 29 to Thursday, February 13.

" If selected, candidates must commence the internship within a one-year period of graduation," it clarified.

Career expert Emmanuel Makokha advised applicants to explain their achievements, projects and leadership responsibilities at school.

"The interviewer wants to know about the most important parts of your career, like accolades, promotions, special projects you've worked on, and important talents you've developed. If your career is shaped by a variety of industries, it is best to summarise the response by industry.
Focus on significant accomplishments, important tasks or assignments, honours, etc. that highlight transferable talents to the position. Attending important seminars, particularly those on strategy and leadership, would enhance your response," he told TUKO.co.ke.

In related news, the county government of Kakamega invited applications from Form Four leavers to fill 32 vacant positions for data clerks.

Amref Health Africa also announced several job vacancies in Nairobi, Kenya. Applications will close on January 31, 2025.

Key positions include project manager, project officer, monitoring and evaluation associate, talent, learning, and development officer.

At the same time, the Commission on Administrative Justice (Office of the Ombudsman) invited qualified Kenyans to apply for various entry-level and managerial positions.
