Suna East MP Junet Mohammed has launched a scathing attack on former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, warning him to stop dragging ODM leader Raila Odinga into his political squabbles.

Speaking during a burial event in Bomet County on Saturday, Junet said Gachagua had crossed the line with his latest remarks made during a diaspora tour in the United States, where he suggested that Raila had lost his political grip in key regions.

He called out Gachagua for disrespecting the very people who played a role in his impeachment.

“Mimi nataka kumwambia mahali amefika (Gachagua) sahii ni red line! Yule mtu ambaye yeye alikuwa anasema ati hana watu ndio watu yake kama mimi ndio tumefuta yeye kazi (I want to tell him (Gachagua) that where he has reached now is the red line! The person (Raila) he has been saying has no supporters — it is his (Raila) people, people like me, who took away his job),” Junet stated.

Gachagua, while addressing the Kenyan diaspora in Seattle, had openly claimed that Raila Odinga no longer commands the support he once did, even in his traditional strongholds.

He claimed that many communities that previously supported Raila have since defected and are now backing his camp.

“The Kamba nation, the Kisiis, the Luhyas, and even the Maasai have left him”, Gachagua said.

He went further to claim that even the Luo nation, Raila’s home turf, is now divided, implying diminishing influence for the ODM leader.

Junet, however, dismissed the ex-DP’s remarks as misleading.

“If he doesn’t stop talking about Raila, he will come to know why hens don’t produce milk. That is a notice I have given him,” Junet warned.

He went on to caution Gachagua that Raila is not someone to trifle with.

“There are people you don’t joke with. Raila Odinga has an army of supporters. If it’s released at once, Gachagua will not even walk in town,” Junet warned, vowing to defend Raila against what he termed “cheap attempts” to discredit him.

Junet also reminded the DCP leader that ODM remains a national party with loyal structures and support across the country.

He warned him against further provocation, stating that ODM was ready to counter any political aggression.

Gachagua, who was sidelined within Kenya Kwanza’s inner circle, has increasingly used public platforms to reposition himself on the national political stage.
