Ukraine Claims Downing Russian Fighter Jet

Ukraine has claimed to have destroyed a Russian Su-30 fighter jet using a missile fired from a seaborne drone. According to Ukraine’s military intelligence agency, this marks the first instance globally of a combat plane being downed by a maritime drone. The announcement was made on Saturday by the GUR via social media, stating that the fighter jet was shot down on Friday by a military intelligence unit known as Group 13. The incident occurred over waters near Novorossiisk, a significant Russian port city situated on the Black Sea.
As of now, the Russian defence ministry has not issued any comments regarding Ukraine's claim. However, a well-known Russian blogger, who is believed to have close ties to the ministry, has reported that the jet was indeed shot down. This blogger, known as Rybar, shared on Telegram that the pilots were able to eject and were subsequently rescued by civilian sailors.
In a related development, the mayor of Novorossiisk declared a state of emergency on Saturday. This declaration came after local authorities reported that a Ukrainian drone attack had caused damage to a grain terminal and several residential buildings, resulting in injuries to five individuals.
