Tinubu Vows to Secure Forests in Katsina

President Bola Tinubu has reiterated his administration's dedication to reclaiming ungoverned areas in the North-west and throughout Nigeria, with a focus on forests, and plans to deploy advanced surveillance and technology to combat kidnapping, banditry, and terrorism. This commitment was conveyed during his address to Katsina elders and leaders at a state dinner in Katsina, where he emphasized the necessity of addressing security for attracting investment. He assured that the federal government will upgrade the airport in Katsina State to create jobs and expand the economy. He also assured that victims of terrorism will receive support to pick up their lives. He acknowledged the leadership roles of Katsina indigenes in the country and described President Muhammadu Buhari as a man of integrity who contributed significantly to Nigeria’s development.
Tinubu also highlighted encouraging signs of Nigeria’s economic recovery, attributing recent positive growth indicators to bold policy decisions. He also thanked Aminu Bello Masari for his role in ensuring that he got the endorsement of the North-west and emerged as the APC presidential candidate. The President also thanked the governors of Kaduna, Jigawa, Borno, Benue, Yobe, Sokoto, and Kwara states who honoured the invitation of the Katsina State Governor Radda for the inauguration of projects and his daughter’s wedding.
In a related development, the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has voiced strong support for ongoing peace talks aimed at resolving the persistent violence in the Middle Belt, particularly in Plateau, Benue, and Gombe states. CAN President Archbishop Daniel Okoh condemned the "brutal attacks and persistent violence" in the region, describing the situation as intolerable and demanding justice for the affected communities. CAN has reaffirmed its commitment to advocating for the safety, security, and dignity of those affected by violence in the Middle Belt and called on Nigerians from all backgrounds to support peace initiatives.
CAN also cautioned against actions that could worsen the country's security situation and warned against spreading fake news that may deepen divisions. Okoh urged Nigerians to embrace unity, mutual trust, and love for their neighbors. He acknowledged ongoing diplomatic efforts, including the engagement of U.S. Ambassador Richard Mills, and called on international partners and local bodies like the Nigerian Inter-Religious Council to enhance collaborative solutions.
