U-19 Women's Basketball World Cup: Junior D'Tigress bag historic win
Nigeria’s Junior D’Tigress on Saturday secured a historic win in the FIBA U-19 Women’s Basketball World Cup by defeating China.
The Nigerian girls shocked the basketball world by earning their first-ever win at the competition, beating China 93-88 in their tournament opener in Brno, Czech Republic.
The odds appeared to be against the Nigerian princesses but that did not deter them from securing a historic triumph over their Chinese counterparts.
25 points from Nora Ezike against China, with 16 of those coming in the fourth quarter of the game helped the Junior D’Tigress to secure victory.
Idubamo Beg who had 18pts, Tobenna Nweke (15pts) and Jessica Ajayi (10pts) finished with double-digits points. Nigeria’s next group game is against Canada.
