Two persons killed in separate accidents

Ahmedabad: A 49-year-old sanitation worker, Dahi Chauhan, died following a road accident near Delhi Darwaza on Sunday morning. Chauhan was on her way to report for duty at the Madhupura muster when she was hit by a car while crossing the BRTS road.The car, driven by a man identified as Shashank Rai, a resident of Shahibaug, struck Chauhan and later crashed into the BRTS corridor railing. Chauhan, who suffered serious injuries to her body and face, was taken to the Civil Hospital where she died during medical care.L Division Traffic Police have taken the driver into custody and registered a case against him. Chauhan was a resident of Dariapur's Valmiki Vas. Following the incident, sanitation work in the Madhupura ward remained suspended on Sunday as a mark of protest, and mourning by civic staff.

In another incident, Ganpat Thakor, a 46-year-old daily wager, died in a accident near Prem Darwaza in Madhupura area on Saturday. According to the complaint filed by his sister Kailash Thakor, he was crossing the road when he was hit by a motorcycle. Ganpat fell and suffered injuries to his head, arms, back, and leg. He was taken to Civil Hospital, where he was admitted to the trauma ward. He was declared dead the same evening.

A case of rash driving has been registered.
