US President Donald Trump has called on Attorney General Pam Bondi to release “whatever she thinks is credible” regarding the case of convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, as pressure mounts from within his own party for greater transparency.

The president’s remarks came Tuesday during a media briefing, where he appeared to walk back his earlier stance urging his political base to “move on” from the controversial Epstein case. The shift follows criticism from prominent Republican allies and supporters demanding full disclosure of all related files.

“She’s handled it very well, and it’s going to be up to her,” Trump said of Bondi. “Whatever she thinks is credible, she should release.”

The Epstein case has remained a touchstone of public mistrust in government institutions. Despite Epstein’s 2019 death being ruled a suicide while he awaited trial on sex trafficking charges, members of Trump’s “Make America Great Again” (MAGA) base continue to believe that sensitive information—possibly implicating powerful individuals—is being suppressed.

Last week, Bondi stated there was “no evidence” that Epstein maintained a so-called “client list” or blackmailed high-profile individuals, sparking backlash from conservative commentators and Trump loyalists. The Department of Justice and FBI also released a joint memo reaffirming that no further files would be made public and that Epstein’s death had been confirmed as suicide.

Still, calls for full disclosure continue to grow.

“We should put everything out there and let the people decide,” said House Speaker Mike Johnson in an interview with conservative host Benny Johnson. “Pam Bondi needs to come forward and explain it to everybody.”

Georgia Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene also demanded transparency: “I fully support transparency on this issue,” she said. “Leaders and elected officials should keep their promises to voters.”

Colorado Congresswoman Lauren Boebert went further, suggesting that a special counsel should be appointed if additional Epstein files are not released soon. Senator John Kennedy of Louisiana echoed that sentiment, telling NBC News, “The American people would like to know who Epstein trafficked those women to and why they weren’t prosecuted.”

However, not all Republicans are aligned on the matter. Senator John Thune and Congressman Jim Jordan both deferred to Trump’s handling of the issue.

When asked Tuesday whether her office would provide more information, Bondi declined to comment. “Nothing about Epstein,” she told reporters during a press event on fentanyl. “I’m not going to talk about Epstein.”

Last week’s memo from the Justice Department stated that over 300 gigabytes of data had been reviewed and that the findings supported no further disclosures. The administration also denied that any credible “client list” existed.

Adding to the political tension, House Democrats attempted on Tuesday to force a vote compelling the release of Epstein-related files, but were blocked by the Republican majority. GOP members countered by highlighting that President Joe Biden’s administration had also declined to release the full records.

Despite the political divide, President Trump again distanced himself from speculation. When asked if his name appeared in any Epstein-related documents, he responded, “No, no.”

Calling the case “sordid but boring,” Trump said, “Only really bad people, including the fake news, want to keep something like this going.”

Still, as his administration juggles political fallout and mounting pressure from within the party, it remains unclear whether more Epstein files will ever be made public.
