Tragedy Strikes State House: GSU Officer Fatally Attacked

A General Service Unit (GSU) officer tragically lost his life after being stabbed in an unprovoked attack outside State House, Nairobi. The incident occurred at Gate D of the heavily protected government facility, where Police Constable Ramadhan Khamisi Matanka was on duty, searching motor vehicles alongside a colleague.
According to a police report obtained by The Standard, the assailant, identified as a 56-year-old man, advanced towards the officers at approximately 8:15 a.m. on Dennis Pritt Road, about 4 kilometers south of the police station. Without warning, the attacker drew a bow with an arrow and stabbed Constable Matanka on the left side of his chest. The officer sustained severe injuries and was bleeding profusely.
Constable Matanka was immediately rushed to Kenyatta National Hospital for urgent medical attention but sadly succumbed to his injuries. Their swift response led to the arrest of the suspect involved in the heinous act.
The National Police Service (NPS) has issued a statement condemning the attack, while also commending the officers present for their quick actions that prevented further harm. An extensive investigation is currently underway to ascertain the motive behind this violent assault. The incident has cast a shadow over the security of public servants manning critical government installations.
