Top Sounds Recognized: Cinema Audio Society Awards 'F1,' 'KPop Demon Hunters,' and 'The Studio' for Audio Excellence

The 62nd Cinema Audio Society (CAS) Awards for sound mixing celebrated outstanding achievements in both motion pictures and television, held recently at the Beverly Hilton. The prestigious event recognized the specialized craft of sound mixers, highlighting their crucial contributions to various productions across the industry.

Among the top honors for motion pictures, the sound mixing team behind “F1” clinched the award in the live action feature category, while “KPop Demon Hunters” was celebrated for its sound mixing in the animated feature category. On the television front, sound teams for popular series such as “The Pitt,” “The Studio,” and “Adolescence” were also among the CAS Award winners, showcasing excellence in episodic storytelling.

The ceremony also honored key figures in the entertainment industry. Acclaimed filmmaker Guillermo del Toro was presented with the filmmaker honoree award, acknowledging his significant impact on cinema. Additionally, re-recording mixer Skip Lievsay received the career achievement honor. Lievsay's illustrious career spans over four decades, marked by his extensive work on critically acclaimed films including “Gravity,” “No Country for Old Men,” “True Grit,” “Inside Llewyn Davis,” and “Roma.” He has collaborated with renowned directors such as the Coen brothers, Alfonso Cuarón, Martin Scorsese, and Spike Lee, leaving an indelible mark on the sound landscape of modern cinema.

Actor Chris Hardwick served as the host for the evening, guiding the celebration of talent and innovation in sound mixing.
