Top European Clubs Eyeing Kwara Football Academy Talents
The Kwara Sports Commission has announced significant interest from top international football clubs, including Chelsea Football Club, in three promising players from the Kwara Football Academy (KFA). Coach Bolakale Mogaji, the Executive Chairman of the Kwara Sports Commission, revealed this exciting development on Wednesday in Ilorin during the 3rd Quarter Inter-Ministerial News Briefing organized by the Kwara Ministry of Communications.
The three players identified for potential international transfers are Abduljelil Kamaldeen, who has attracted the attention of Chelsea in England; Uthman Tajudeen, eyed by Brentford, also a London-based club; and Ifeanyi Ikechwukwu, who is a prospect for Lueven in Belgium. These proposed contracts with prestigious international clubs are not only a testament to the talent nurtured at KFA but are also expected to provide a substantial boost to the state's Internally Generated Revenue (IGR).
Chairman Mogaji further explained that arrangements are currently in advanced stages, with scouts from the interested clubs actively involved in identifying and rigorously evaluating their preferred players. This meticulous process underscores the seriousness of the potential transfers and the professional approach being taken by the Kwara Sports Commission to ensure the best outcomes for the players and the state.
Beyond the individual player achievements, the sports administrator also took the opportunity to highlight a historic milestone for Kwara United Football Club. The club recently clinched this year's highly regarded President Federation Cup, a significant victory that comes after a considerable period, marking a proud moment for sports in Kwara State.
In line with the broader efforts to enhance sports infrastructure, Mogaji also detailed the extensive upgrades made to sports facilities across the state. The George Innih Stadium Complex, for instance, has seen significant improvements, including the construction of state-of-the-art, eight-wing squash courts, a first of its kind in the region. Additionally, the newly remodeled Pa Ladipo Indoor Sports Hall is nearing completion and will soon be ready for use, further solidifying Kwara's commitment to providing modern sports venues.
The Executive Chairman lauded Governor Abdulrazaq, describing him as a passionate lover of sports. He specifically praised the Governor's substantial investments in sports development, recognizing these efforts as a powerful and effective tool for fostering youth development and empowering the younger generation within the state.
