Three arrested over armed robbery in Jigawa village

The Jigawa State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of three individuals suspected to have carried out an armed robbery in Katoge Village, located in Kazaure Local Government Area.

According to a statement released on Sunday by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Shi’isu Adam, the arrests were made following a coordinated operation involving the Kazaure Divisional Police Headquarters, Operation Salama, local vigilantes, and members of the community neighbourhood watch.

The suspects were apprehended at approximately 4:00 a.m. on Thursday, shortly after allegedly carrying out a robbery operation that targeted several homes in Katoge Village.

Adam explained, “The police operation was based on credible intelligence, which led to the swift mobilisation of officers to the area. The suspects were intercepted while attempting to flee with stolen property.”

Items recovered from the suspects include a locally made Dane gun, unspecified local ammunition, a motorcycle suspected to be stolen, a mattress, a power bank, two sheep, and the sum of ₦50,000.

He further stated that a preliminary investigation has revealed that the suspects conspired to invade the residences of three individuals in Katoge Quarters, where they forcibly dispossessed them of personal belongings.”

Adam noted that the rapid deployment of security personnel helped prevent any fatalities or further escalation during the incident.

He added, “The suspects are currently in custody and undergoing interrogation. Upon the completion of a detailed investigation, they will be charged to court.”

The police command commended the officers who participated in the operation for their effective response and encouraged residents to maintain cooperation with law enforcement by providing timely and reliable information to support crime prevention efforts in the state.
