The Future of Eco-Friendly Travel? Airbus Explores "Bunk Seats" on Aircraft
According to information from CNN Travel, the European Airbus aircraft manufacturer has noticed the potential of such an installation. As an Airbus representative told the media, “Chaise Longue studies certain preliminary concepts with Airbus on two -level seats solutions” for its commercial aircraft.
In planes, and in particular on long -term flights, the organization of the seats testifies to the class in which you travel. Few places to extend your legs, a stiff file: there is a good chance that you are in economy class. However, if you have a private mini cabin, access to the shower and a folder that allows you to lie down, you are surely in first class.

This organization, however, is absolutely unprecedented. Developed by the Spanish start-up long chair, it may soon be possible to travel on two different levels, thanks to bunk seats. This “preliminary concept” is indeed taken very seriously by Airbus, which confirmed its experimentation for its commercial aircraft, as the dispatch relays.
To install these seats arranged on two levels, the compartments provided for storage located on the ceiling should be sacrificed. An evil for a good since passengers in economy class would have more places to extend their legs and larger angles of inclination. However, there is no question of saying goodbye forever to the rows of classic seats, the idea being to develop mixed cabins.

Following an exclusive article published by CNN Travel according to the media, the images of these seats had leaked on social networks. The reactions have been numerous, sometimes indignant, disconcerted, mixed … Fortunately there are no bad advertisements, according to Alejandro Núñez Vicente, designer of plane seats, for whom this installation is simply the future of the economical class .
“” “People can speak, they always hate innovation in a certain way. Most of the time, when you show you something new, everyone hates it at first, they are afraid of change. But the more you show it, the more you develop it, the more people see it, the more they get used to it ”.
Before being spotted by Airbus, this installation was only a project presented as part of university work, then was nominated for the Crystal Cabin Awards 2021, a prestigious price in the aeronautical industry. In any case, this new interest from Airbus for these seats more materializes the future of this innovation … that we should not see in the planes of any time.
