Pope Leo XIV Inauguration Mass Set for May 18

The Vatican has announced that the inauguration mass of Pope Leo XIV is scheduled for Sunday, May 18, and will be held in St Peter's Square. This event is anticipated to draw world leaders to the Vatican, marking ten days since the election of Robert Francis Prevost as the first US head of the world's 1.4 billion Catholics.

Following the inauguration, Pope Leo XIV will engage in a series of meetings. On Monday, he is slated to meet with journalists, providing an opportunity for the press to engage with the new pontiff. The subsequent Friday, he will meet with diplomats accredited to the Holy See, fostering diplomatic relations.

The Vatican has also outlined Pope Leo XIV's schedule beyond these initial meetings. His first general audience is set for Wednesday, May 21, allowing the public to receive his blessing and hear his message. Additionally, a meeting with members of the Roman Curia, comprised of top Vatican officials, is planned for May 24.
