Ter Stegen's exit from Barcelona takes leap forward in latest move - Man United News And Transfer News | The Peoples Person

Manchester United target Marc-André ter Stegen is looking likelier and likelier to depart FC Barcelona this summer.

After rupturing his patella tendon at the start of the season, the German keeper missed the majority of the 2024/2025 campaign.

Barcelona have also recently signed Joan Garcia this summer and have put Ter Stegen up for sale.

United have also been keen on the keeper as they look to improve on Andre Onana and Altay Bayindir and have expressed interest in the player.

He is reportedly “livid” with Barcelona over being forced out of the club and is said to be demanding that he can leave on a free.

Catalan paper Sport report that as a consequence, “Ter Stegen’s agent is exploring possible exits in the market.”

“Barça has already made its intentions clear” with AS Monaco and Galatasaray already showing interest in signing the German international.

At this moment in time however, Ter Stegen remains steadfast that he will not leave the Catalan club this summer and wants to stay and fight for his place.

Nonetheless, his agent is also aware that this is a World Cup year and that he will need regular first team football if he is to be Germany’s number one in North America.

Sport make it clear that Ter Stegen is not welcome to stay despite his thoughts and report that “what is clear is that if he decides to remain entrenched in his position and stay at Barcelona, his situation next season would be more than controversial.”

With the renewal of Wojciech Szczęsny and the club’s commitment to Garcia, Ter Stegen is currently seen as the third choice keeper and even trained separately from the main group yesterday in pre-season preparations.

Ter Stegen offers a unique opportunity to land an incredibly experienced keeper on a knock-down fee due to Barca’s desperation to sell.

United’s desire for a new keeper has only been magnified too in the context that Andre Onana has picked up an injury that will keep him out of the pre-season tour of the United States this summer.

Grew up pretending to be Ruud van Nistelrooy and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in the back garden, with little success.
