Andre Onana was preparing for his third season at Man United, but there was speculation that he could be sold after a second consecutive poor season.

The Cameroon star joined Manchester United in 2023, but his performances have been plagued by errors, leading many fans to call for the club to move him on.

According to The Telegraph, Onana has been ruled out of pre-season due to a hamstring injury. His coach, Ruben Amorim, is considering signing a new goalkeeper ahead of the season's start next month, the report adds.

The Cameroon international suffered the injury last week when players started returning for pre-season training. He is reportedly will miss six to eight weeks.

The Red Devils will kick off their season on August 17 with an exciting encounter against Arsenal at Old Trafford. It remains uncertain whether Onana will be fit and ready for this crucial match.

Altay Bayındır and Tom Heaton could step in for the former Inter Milan goalkeeper, though neither has seen much game time at the club.

Their reserve goalkeeper Radek Vitek, 21, is also highly rated and could join Amorim's team for the USA tour. The report adds that Amorim needs his squad in place before pre-season, and Onana's injury might've changed plans.

@Utd_BarryRyan:

"Not to be that guy but Onana injury news means the club can finally operate like they aren't bozos and sign a decent GK like Lammens or John Victor or if we are serious we ship Andre and sign both."

@iam_wilsons:

"Andre Onana OUT for 6-8 weeks with an hamstring injury and Manchester United fans are happy. For real? I genuinely don't trust INEOS people to get us someone better to fill in."

@Kellysome4real:

"This guy went on holiday and was playing as a striker. Dude stretched those hamstrings than before. I am not surprised."

@davidmfrance:

"No need. There’s a perfect keeper there already. Elyh Harrison is his name. A big future in the game."

According to GOAL Brazil, the Red Devils have been linked with Botafogo goalkeeper John Victor. The English side are reportedly ready to trigger the £6 million (KSh 1 billion) release clause.

The report adds that the Brazilian side have already identified a potential replacement.

John Victor impressed at the Club World Cup, especially in their narrow defeat to Palmeiras in the round of 16. He was incredible in Botafogo's epic 1-0 over PSG in the group stage.

The 29-year-old arrived at Botafogo nearly two years ago and helped the Brazilian side win Serie A and the Copa Libertadores last year.

When will Ruben Amorim be fired?

Earlier, reported that former Man United assistant coach Rene Meulensteen predicted that Amorim will be sacked by Christmas if things don't improve.

The Dutch tactician is unconvinced by Amorim's formations, accusing him of lacking flexibility.

The former Sporting CP boss suffered 17 defeats in his first six months, is already under pressure to deliver results.
