The training brings together military and civilian staff of the Ghana Armed Forces and will include practical instruction in essential areas such as software development, computer networks, cybersecurity, and systems administration.
It is part of an ongoing technology training partnership between the DIT and Jackson Institute of Technology (JIT), Ghana’s only NIIT-authorised training centre.
The training, which is part of a broader effort to strengthen internal capacity across the Armed Forces, will be delivered by JIT.
As the sole NIIT authorised centre in Ghana, JIT offers internationally recognised certification and skills training customised to meet the needs of individuals and organisations.
As part of the training, an orientation has been held at the Burma Camp Computer Centre, during which the participants were given an overview of the course structure, the tools they would be working with and the expectations that would guide their learning experience.
The Training Officer at the Directorate of Information Technology Captain Enock Boabeng Appianing, who welcomed the new participants, explained the reasoning behind the programme.
“This collaboration is part of a long-term plan. We are creating a path for our people to develop the skills that modern systems require. It is deliberate, focused and we believe it will make a difference,” he said.
The programme, which is expected to run over several months and will include project work, assessments, and certification.
The aim is to ensure participants are better equipped to support the changing technology requirements of the Armed Forces.
As the partnership progresses, both institutions have expressed a shared commitment to delivering high-quality, practical training that keeps up with the increasing demand for digital expertise across sectors.
