Taylor Swift Smashes Records with 'Life of A Showgirl' Album Sales!

Taylor Swift has once again proven her chart-topping prowess with her latest album, "The Life Of A Showgirl," which has become the fastest-selling album in the UK in eight years and achieved the biggest opening week for an international album this century. The project, reportedly inspired by falling in love with Travis Kelce, sold an astonishing 423,400 copies in the UK within just seven days. This remarkable performance marks the biggest album opening since Ed Sheeran’s "Divide" in 2017 and is Taylor Swift's first album to achieve Brit-certified Platinum status in its debut week.

Her consistent success is further highlighted by "The Life Of A Showgirl" becoming her 14th No1 album, allowing her to surpass Elvis Presley and draw level with The Rolling Stones in this achievement. She also holds the record for the most UK No1 albums for an international act, placing her behind only The Beatles and Robbie Williams, who each boast 15 chart-topping albums. Beyond overall sales, the album also set a new record as the UK’s fastest-selling album on vinyl this century, complemented by a record-breaking 84,000 streaming sales in a single week. Simultaneously, Swift is dominating the singles charts, filling the top three positions with "The Life Of Ophelia," "Oplaite," and "Elizabeth Taylor," with "The Life Of Ophelia" marking the biggest first week for a single in four years.

In other significant music news, rock band No Doubt has announced their first series of shows in 14 years, set to take place as a residency at The Sphere in Las Vegas. Fronted by Gwen Stefani, the group previously reunited for two gigs at Coachella last year and will now perform for six nights at the innovative Sin City venue, commencing on May 6. This residency coincides with the 30th anniversary of their seminal album "Tragic Kingdom."

Meanwhile, British singer-songwriter Jack Savoretti celebrated his birthday by releasing his new single, "Do It For Love." Savoretti discussed the track, which was penned by The Last Shadow Puppets frontman Miles Kane, describing it as an anthem for resilience: "This song is me explaining to the audience why we’re up there. It’s an anthem for anyone who keeps going, who refuses to take no for an answer. You can romanticise why we write and sing and perform songs, but essentially, it’s because we love doing it." He also shared plans for a special show at the Royal Albert Hall on April 26 to mark 20 years in showbiz, with a ninth album also slated for release next year.

Away from the stage, Brit Award-winner Becky Hill recently concluded her honeymoon in Colombia with events booker Charlie Gardner, whom she married last month. The newlyweds enjoyed a range of activities, including relaxing on the beach, sipping pineapple cocktails, horseback riding, mountain biking, taking a helicopter ride, and dipping under a waterfall, before returning to studio life in the UK.

Finally, Demi Lovato has released a new song titled "Kiss," an open exploration of physical affection. The lyrics include lines such as: "Don’t care that I barely even know you. It’s not that deep unless you want it to be. I take the stick and drive it manually. What’s the point of all the space in between my lips, your lips?" Lovato also made an appearance at a charity event in Los Angeles celebrating National PrEP Day, wearing a pencil skirt and crop top. The event aimed to raise awareness for PrEP medication, which helps prevent HIV contraction and can stop HIV-positive individuals from transmitting the virus. Cardi B and Dua Lipa were also among those showing their support for the goal to eliminate the virus.
