Taylor Swift's Unstoppable Chart Reign: How Her Influence Revives Hits

The latest movements on the country music charts underscore the genre's broad appeal and diverse influences, showcasing artists like Dan + Shay, Ella Langley, and Morgan Wallen making significant impacts with unique projects. These new entries demonstrate that major moments in country music can emerge from a variety of sources and styles, from pop revivals to Texas-infused grit and British rock interpretations.
Dan + Shay have made a notable debut at No. 4 on Billboard’s Country Digital Song Sales chart, dated November 1, with their rendition of Taylor Swift’s iconic track, “Back to December.” This cover sold an impressive 2,000 downloads during its initial week from October 17-23, according to Luminate. The duo’s performance clip of the song at a recent soundcheck garnered widespread viral attention, prompting them to release a studio version. This success marks Dan + Shay’s thirteenth entry into the top 10 on this specific chart, a fitting achievement. Taylor Swift's original version of “Back to December” previously dominated the chart for six weeks between 2010 and 2011, also reaching No. 3 on the Hot Country Songs chart.
Meanwhile, rising star Ella Langley has achieved her first top 10 debut on the Hot Country Songs chart. Her track, “Choosin’ Texas,” which was co-written and co-produced with collaborators including Miranda Lambert, opened strong at No. 7. The song amassed 8 million official U.S. streams, generated 910,000 in radio audience impressions, and sold 5,000 units in its opening period. This accomplishment adds to Langley’s growing success, making “Choosin’ Texas” her fourth overall top 10 on the comprehensive multimetric survey.
Morgan Wallen also commanded attention with his distinctive entrance on the charts. His song, “Graveyard Whistling,” is a reimagined version of a 2015 track by the English rock band Nothing but Thieves. This update debuted at No. 11 on the Hot Country Songs chart, driven significantly by 6.8 million streams. Wallen first introduced his cover during his Abbey Road Sessions YouTube series in March 2024, followed by an Amazon Music Original version in June. The song was then made widely available across all streaming platforms on October 17. “Graveyard Whistling” is one of seven titles by Wallen that are currently charting on the Hot Country Songs, highlighting his continued dominance and influence in the genre.
