The Taraba State House of Assembly on Thursday dismissed claims that it was planning to replace Deputy Governor Aminu Alkali, who is currently receiving medical treatment in Abuja.

The Chairman of the House Committee on Information, Nelson Len, addressed the speculation while speaking to journalists in Jalingo, saying there was no such plan under consideration by the legislature.

Len explained that Alkali is expected to resume official duties once he fully recovers, and urged the public to disregard rumours suggesting the assembly was preparing to declare him incapacitated.

He stressed that none of the three arms of government in the state had initiated any process to remove or replace the deputy governor.

According to him, efforts are ongoing to ensure his full recovery and return to office.

“We call on the general public to disregard the speculations that the assembly is preparing to declare the deputy governor incapacitated,” he added.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) recalls that Alkali has been on medical leave since November 2024, sparking concerns in some quarters over the prolonged duration of his absence from office.
