Last Week Tonight with John Oliver has talked about Nintendo quite a bit in its 11+ year run. Mario, Pikachu, Wario and many other Nintendo characters have been used for jokes, and just a few weeks back the show covered Nintendo’s tariff woes with Switch 2 in great detail. It’s clear that Nintendo is never too far from the minds of the show’s writers, and they’ve once again tipped their hat to the Big N this week.

In the opening segment for the latest episode of Last Week Tonight, we get yet another joke punchline where Nintendo is name-dropped. Once more we see the Switch 2 get some screen time, and rather than poking fun at Nintendo, the Switch 2 is used as a positive point. You can see the joke at the 2:02 mark in the episode on Max, but since each episode’s opening segment is cut from the YouTube upload, you won’t find it there. There’s also an unofficial episode upload, and you can find the joke at the 1:26 mark in that version.

Turns out that’s not the only bit of gaming love from the latest Last Week Tonight episode, as games are brought up a few more times throughout. While the mentions aren’t Nintendo-specific, they still very much apply to Nintendo in some degree and gamers in general.
