Haruna Yahaya Inaugurated as 61st ICAN President

The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) officially inaugurated Haruna Yahaya as its 61st president on Tuesday. The investiture ceremony, marking the formal commencement of Yahaya's leadership, was held at the ICAN head office in Lagos. Mr. Yahaya takes over the mantle from Davidson Alaribe, who served as the 60th president of the Institute and will now steer the affairs of ICAN for the coming year.
In his valedictory address during the ceremony, the outgoing president, Davidson Alaribe, reflected on his tenure. He highlighted the significant expansion of ICAN's presence and footprint across Nigeria under his leadership. Notably, Alaribe revealed that the Institute had opened 26 new District Societies, of which 24 were successfully inaugurated during his term.
The investiture ceremony was a distinguished event, attended by numerous dignitaries representing various levels of government and professional bodies. Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu was represented at the occasion by the state's Accountant-General, Dr. Abiodun Muritala. Other eminent guests included the Deputy Governor of Jigawa State, Aminu Usman; the Attorney General of Jigawa State, Abdulqadir Fanini; the Executive Secretary of the Financial Reporting Council of Nigeria, Dr. Rabiu Olowo; the President of the Association of National Accountants of Nigeria, Zuwaira Kishimi; and the President of the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria, Professor Pius Olanrewaju.
