Nana Akomea Advocates for Sympathy Towards Ken Ofori-Atta in OSP Matter

Nana Akomea, the former Chief Executive of InterCity State Transport Corporation, has publicly called upon Special Prosecutor Kissi Agyebeng to adopt a more compassionate approach in handling the case involving former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta. This plea comes in light of the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) re-declaring Mr. Ofori-Atta as "wanted."
During a press conference held on Monday, June 2, 2025, Special Prosecutor Kissi Agyebeng disclosed that his office had been informed by Mr. Ofori-Atta's legal representatives that the former minister is battling cancer. However, Mr. Agyebeng also highlighted that the OSP has not yet received any official medical report to substantiate this health condition.
Voicing his perspective on Peace FM’s “Kokrokoo” show, Nana Akomea contended that Ken Ofori-Atta’s health struggles are not a secret and questioned the rationale behind the Special Prosecutor's decision to escalate the matter publicly. "By declaring him [Ofori-Atta] wanted, what’s next? Does it mean you won’t send him to court?" Mr. Akomea queried, further pondering, "So, if he doesn’t return for two or three years, does it mean he remains wanted but won’t be taken to court?"
Mr. Akomea strongly suggested that the OSP should have exercised more patience, given the widespread awareness of Mr. Ofori-Atta's illness. He concluded by urging Kissi Agyebeng to remain calm and to exhibit greater sympathy towards the former Finance Minister's situation.
