ANCHORAGE, AK (Alaska’s News Source) - Temperature shifts over the last 24 hours across mainland Alaska are all positive!

Sunshine in Fairbanks pushed the temperature to 72 degrees Wednesday, making it the latest date that the city has hit 70 degrees. The previous date for the latest 70-degree temperature was June 7, 1955.

Parts of Anchorage made it to the low 70s as well, but not in the official location.

A ridge of high pressure is expected to keep many areas of mainland Alaska with sunny and dry weather. Temperatures over the next few days will be the warmest of the year so far.

Storm systems flank the mainland, moving across the Aleutians and into the west coast. Rain and gusty winds will be common.
