June Heat Continues

Published 1 week ago2 minute read

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) — After a warm Father’s Day weekend, cloud cover rolls into Anchorage cooling down temperatures into the low 60s with overnight lows sitting in the 40’s.

There is potential for scattered showers and wet conditions overnight Monday and Tuesday that will take over the coastal regions of Southcentral Alaska as a low-pressure system sits over the Gulf.

Up north, the contrary is true with a ridge of high pressure bringing close to record temperatures near the interior with heat advisories and red flag warnings across the region. Dry conditions and wind gusts up to 25 mph increase the risk of fire danger, so take extra precautions when around dry vegetation.

The southeast region is finally getting a taste of summer with a low-pressure system moving away, bringing sunshine and warmer temperatures this week.

As we approach Juneteenth, Anchorage will see temperatures climbing toward the 70s again, with sunshine rolling back in. Until then, expect to see an increase in clouds overnight and tomorrow, cooling things down until Wednesday.
