Storm Chaos: AC/DC Toronto Concert AXED Due to Massive Thunderstorm Damage!

The veteran Australian hard rock band AC/DC has had one of the final shows of their extensive two-year, 90-date Power Up tour canceled due to an unforeseen act of nature. The concert, originally scheduled for September 16, 2026, at Toronto’s Rogers Stadium, was called off after the venue sustained significant damage from a severe weather event the previous week.
Rogers Stadium announced the cancellation on Wednesday, September 9, stating, “We regret to announce that AC/DC’s show scheduled for Sept. 16, 2026 at Rogers Stadium in Toronto has been canceled due to damage the venue sustained following a severe weather event.” The venue emphasized that the safety of fans, artists, crew, and staff remained their highest priority. Despite efforts to find an alternative venue in Toronto, none could accommodate the scale of the event.
A thorough assessment following the extreme weather event revealed extensive damage, including wide swaths of seats being tossed, twisted, and ripped from their moorings. The stadium described a “suspected microburst in the area” from a “100-year storm” that brought extreme winds and heavy rainfall. Kevin Mahoney, DTN risk communicator team lead and an AMS-certified consulting meteorologist and the venue’s on-site meteorologist, confirmed that engineers, in coordination with the City of Toronto, determined that damaged sections of the venue would need to be removed and rebuilt.
Wayne Zronik, president of business operations for Live Nation Canada, also expressed regret over the cancellation, acknowledging the disappointment for fans who were looking forward to AC/DC closing out the venue’s summer season. He reiterated that safety was paramount and that the decision was made to allow time for the affected parts of the stadium to be rebuilt, ensuring it is ready for fans next summer.
Fans who purchased tickets through Ticketmaster will automatically receive a refund to their original payment method. Despite this cancellation, AC/DC’s Power Up tour still has three remaining dates: September 12 at Parc Jean-Drapeau in Montreal, September 25 at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J., and the final show on September 29 at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia.
