Steven Spielberg's 'Disclosure Day' UFO Movie Unveils First Jaw-Dropping Trailer

Universal Pictures has officially unveiled the first trailer and title for Steven Spielberg’s highly anticipated new science fiction film, “Disclosure Day.” This marks a significant return for the acclaimed director to a genre he has masterfully explored throughout his illustrious career, which includes seminal works like “Close Encounters of the Third Kind,” “E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial,” and “War of the Worlds.” The film is set to captivate audiences with its intriguing premise revolving around the revelation of extraterrestrial life.

The star-studded cast features Emily Blunt, Josh O’Connor, Colin Firth, Eve Hewson, Colman Domingo, Wyatt Russell, and Henry Lloyd-Hughes. Spielberg developed the compelling science fiction narrative alongside screenwriter David Koepp, a frequent collaborator known for his work on blockbusters such as “Jurassic Park,” “Jurassic Park: The Lost World,” and “War of the Worlds.” The creative team also reunites Spielberg with his long-time musical genius, John Williams, marking their thirtieth collaboration, and go-to cinematographer Janusz Kamiński, ensuring the film's visual and auditory grandeur.

The logline for “Disclosure Day” poses a profound question: “If you found out we weren’t alone, if someone showed you, proved it to you, would that frighten you? This summer, the truth belongs to seven billion people. We are coming close to … ‘Disclosure Day.’” The trailer offers tantalizing glimpses into the plot, showcasing Emily Blunt as a meteorologist who experiences a bizarre, possibly alien, incident live on air during a weather report. Josh O’Connor portrays a man driven to expose the truth of alien existence to the world. The footage is laden with evocative imagery, including mysterious crop circles, intense car chases, unsettling animal behavior, and hints of a vast government agency actively engaged in covering up alien life, all building towards a climactic revelation.

“Disclosure Day” will be Spielberg’s 37th directed feature since his debut in 1964 with the partially lost science fiction film “Firelight.” This new film adds to his extensive repertoire of science fiction works, which also includes “Minority Report,” “A.I. Artificial Intelligence,” and “Ready Player One.” With a cumulative box office gross exceeding $10 billion worldwide across his directing filmography, Spielberg’s projects consistently draw global attention.

Throughout his career, Spielberg has garnered numerous accolades, including over 23 Academy Award nominations as a director and producer. He has notably won three Oscars, including Best Director for “Schindler’s List” in 1993 and “Saving Private Ryan” in 1998. His most recent film, the semi-autobiographical “The Fabelmans” (released in 2022), earned $45 million and received seven Academy Award nominations, including Best Picture.

Until recently, the project was known only as an “untitled Spielberg event film,” with its premise and title kept under wraps as effectively as Area 51. Billboards teasing the film have been spotted in major cities like New York and Los Angeles, fueling public anticipation. Universal Pictures is set to release “Disclosure Day” in theaters on June 12, 2026. The film is produced by Spielberg alongside Kristie Macosko Krieger at Amblin Entertainment, promising another cinematic masterpiece.
