Statesville Unleashes Next-Gen Municipal Operations Center, Marking Key Milestone

The City of Statesvillerecently celebrated a significant milestone with the official opening of Phases I and II of its new Municipal Operations Center, located at 1105 Winston Avenue.A ribbon-cutting ceremony, attended by Statesville City Council members, city staff, and representatives from contractor Wharton Smith, marked the completion of these initial stages of the multi-phase project.
Phase I of the Municipal Operations Center introduces the new Statesville Public Power building. This facility is designed to provide expanded office space, updated infrastructure, and covered parking, all essential components to bolster and support the city’s electric utility operations. Concurrently, Phase II features a modern Vehicle Maintenance Garage, a key addition aimed at enhancing the city's fleet servicing capacity, improving overall safety, and increasing efficiency across its vehicle operations. This phase also incorporates a new centralized warehouse, which is set to streamline the storage and access to vital parts, tools, and materials utilized by various city departments, ensuring smoother operations.

Construction on theMunicipal Operations Centercommenced in November 2023. This comprehensive multi-phase project carries an approximate total cost of $23 million, a sum entirely funded by the City of Statesville. Following the completion of these initial phases, city departments are currently in the process of relocating into the new facilities and diligently preparing the spaces for full operational readiness.
