Star-Studded Korean Thriller 'Made in Korea' Premieres on Disney+

Disney+ is set to launch "Made in Korea," a highly anticipated 1970s crime noir series, on December 24 with an initial two-episode premiere. The series brings together two prominent South Korean actors, Hyun Bin and Jung Woo-sung, in a compelling narrative that delves into the tumultuous era of 1970s South Korea.
Hyun Bin, renowned for his roles in "Crash Landing on You" and "Confidential Assignment," stars as Baek Kitae, an ambitious and complex KCIA agent. Kitae leads a precarious double life, by day operating as a government operative, and by night orchestrating an illegal enterprise. He leverages his extensive underworld connections to not only consolidate his power and generate substantial revenue for the agency but also to protect his brother, navigating a world filled with moral ambiguities and dangerous alliances.
Opposing Kitae is Jang Geonyoung, portrayed by Jung Woo-sung, known for his performances in "Tell Me That You Love Me" and "12.12: The Day." Geonyoung is an incorruptible prosecutor, relentlessly determined to expose Kitae's illicit activities and bring him to justice. The series also features Woo Dohwan, from "Bloodhounds" and "Mr. Plankton," in the role of Baek Kihyun, Kitae's brother, adding another layer of personal stakes to the unfolding drama.
The intricate storyline of "Made in Korea" is crafted by an accomplished creative team. The series is co-written by Park Eunkyo, celebrated for her work on "Mother" and "The Silent Sea," and Park Joonseok, also a writer for "A Normal Family." Directing the series is Woo Minho, acclaimed for films such as "The Man Standing Next," "Inside Men," and "Harbin." Production is handled by Hive Media Corp, the studio behind successful titles like "Inside Men" and "12.12: The Day," ensuring a high-quality cinematic experience.
Following its Christmas Eve debut, "Made in Korea" will continue its release schedule with two additional episodes on December 31. The final two episodes are slated to roll out weekly through January 14, providing viewers with a consistent stream of suspense. Signaling strong confidence in the series, it has already been renewed for a second season, which is currently in production, promising more twists and turns in Kitae and Geonyoung's ongoing saga.
This thriller is a significant addition to Disney+'s rapidly expanding catalogue of Korean drama content. "Made in Korea" joins other 2025 launches including "Unmasked," "Nine Puzzles," "Hyper Knife," "Low Life," "The Murky Stream," and "Tempest." The streaming platform also has an impressive lineup of Korean series planned for 2026, featuring "Gold Land" starring Park Boyoung, "Perfect Crown" with IU and Byeon Wooseok, and a highly anticipated second season of "A Shop for Killers" featuring Lee Dongwook and Kim Hyejun, further solidifying Disney+'s commitment to delivering diverse and high-quality K-drama offerings.
