Fans have eagerly awaited updates on Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse, the highly anticipated final chapter in the animated trilogy.

The film has experienced multiple delays, leading to uncertainty even among its cast regarding its status and the return of beloved characters.

However, a significant update has confirmed that a key figure from the previous films is officially rejoining the cast, and his role is expected to be substantial.

Jake Johnson has verified his return as Peter B. Parker in Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse.

Speaking at the SXSW premiere of The Sun Never Sets, Johnson revealed that he has commenced recording for the film.

When asked if his previous 2024 comments about not having recorded yet had changed, he confirmed, "That has changed. Yes, I've started recording. And it's excellent."

Johnson further teased that Peter B. Parker's appearance will be more than just a brief cameo, stating that the movie will be "honoring him in a very exciting way" and that it "makes me really happy."

He expressed his affection for the character, calling Peter B. "a character I love," and commended Phil Lord and Chris Miller for "giving him a lot of respect."

The main cast for Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse features a stellar lineup of voice actors.

Shameik Moore reprises his role as Miles Morales, with Hailee Steinfeld as Gwen Stacy, and Johnson as Peter B. Parker.

Other confirmed cast members include Jason Schwartzman as The Spot, Karan Soni as Spider-Man India, Daniel Kaluuya as Spider-Punk, Nicolas Cage as Spider-Man Noir, Jharrel Jerome as Miles G. Morales/Prowler, Greta Lee as Lyla, and Marvin Jones III as Tombstone.

Brian Tyree Henry is also part of the cast as Jefferson Davis.

The preceding films in the franchise achieved considerable success, both critically and commercially.

Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse garnered approximately $375.6 million worldwide against a reported $90 million budget, cementing its reputation with an Oscar win for Best Animated Feature.

Its sequel, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, surpassed its predecessor's box office performance, earning around $690.8 million worldwide, including $381.6 million domestically, and received a nomination for Best Animated Feature at the 2024 Academy Awards.

Sony is currently slated to release Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse on June 20, 2027.

The film is directed by Bob Persichetti and Justin K. Thompson, with Dave Callaham, Phil Lord, and Christopher Miller credited as writers, and Phil Lord, Chris Miller, Avi Arad, Amy Pascal, and Jinko Gotoh serving as producers.

The film follows Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse and Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse.
