Tema, Feb. 21, GNA – Some Civil and Local Government Staff Association of Ghana (CLOGSAG) members who are staff of the Tema Metropolitan Assembly (TMA) are at post despite the ongoing national strike.

Departments such as the human resources unit, secretarial office, information service, and environmental health department were operating except the births and deaths registry.

Some workers who preferred anonymity in an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) said they had not received any official information regarding the strike and could not rely on news stories to join the strike.

They added that they were previously informed of the strike, but that arrangements were cancelled, requesting that the union should have officially informed its members of the new development.

GLOSAG, since Thursday, February 20, 2025, had been on strike with a call on President John Dramani Mahama to revoke the appointment of Mr. Samuel Adom Botchwey as the appointed registrar of the births and deaths registry.

The union described the appointment of Mr. Botchway as political, claiming that he was not a civil servant but a well-known National Democratic Congress (NDC) member; as such, he was not fit for the position.

Although the government had appealed to the union to rescind their decisions and call off the strike, the union, however, insisted that they would not relent until their demands were met.
