Smiths Detection Awarded Contract for Dubai Airport Security

Smiths Detection has been awarded a contract by Dubai Aviation Engineering Projects (DAEP) to provide advanced checkpoint screening solutions at all terminals of Dubai International Airport (DXB). The initiative aims to enhance security operations and improve passenger experience at one of the world’s busiest airports. The technologies provided include the HI-SCAN 6040 CTiX Model-S, a computed tomography (CT) screening system that enhances security and efficiency of passenger screening processes, and is powered by artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning capabilities, offering superior image resolution, automatic detection, and quicker, more accurate threat identification.

DAEP aims to adopt innovative technologies that improve operational efficiency and security, aligning with its commitment to a secure, seamless, and world-class airport experience.

Tripledot Studios is acquiring AppLovin’s mobile games studio portfolio for approximately $800 million, split evenly between cash and equity. This deal results in AppLovin becoming a minority shareholder in Tripledot Studios, allowing Tripledot to expand its presence in key markets, including the US and Asia. Post-acquisition, Tripledot Studios will operate 12 studios with over 2,500 team members across 23 cities globally, reaching over 25 million daily active users and generating nearly $2 billion in annual gross revenues.

Founded in London in 2017, Tripledot Studios develops and operates over 25 live games, including titles like Woodoku, Solitaire.com, Nut Sort, and Triple Tile, and has been profitable since its second year. The acquisition provides Tripledot Studios with scale, diversification, and access to global talent. Acquired studios and popular titles are located across North America, Europe, and Asia.

AppLovin's decision to sell its games business to Tripledot Studios reflects its focus on machine learning models rather than game development. AppLovin believes Tripledot's operational capabilities will help these studios thrive. The acquisition is expected to close by early summer 2025, pending regulatory approvals.
