Shockwave in Music: Kali Uchis Disentangles from D4vd After Tragic Discovery

Kali Uchis is actively working to remove her collaborative track “Crashing” with artist D4vd from streaming services following the disturbing discovery of a 15-year-old girl's body in a Tesla registered to the “Romantic Homicide” singer. The incident came to light earlier in September, leading to significant backlash against Uchis on her Instagram post dated September 11.
Responding to fans who criticized her association with D4vd, Uchis clarified her stance, stating, “Not my friend i did a song with him which is currently in the process of being taken down given today’s disturbing news.” She also defended herself against detractors, remarking, “Its ok bb people like her are why women always get blamed for the things men do lol, the internalized misogyny of this world I suppose,” according to Complex. Billboard has reached out to D4vd for official comment regarding the situation.
The song “Crashing” was featured on D4vd’s debut album, “Withered,” which was released in April through Darkroom/Interscope Records. An accompanying music video for the track, launched in February, has accumulated over four million views on YouTube.
The deceased, identified as 15-year-old Celeste Rivas, was reported missing after her last sighting in April 2024 in Riverside County. Her remains were discovered in the trunk of D4vd’s impounded Tesla at a Hollywood Tow lot when authorities were alerted to a “foul odor” emanating from the vehicle.
D4vd, whose birth name is David Anthony Burke, is currently on his “Withered World Tour.” However, due to the unfolding events, he canceled his scheduled Seattle show on Wednesday night, September 17.
