Shockwave! 'Fire Country' Season 4 Trailer Confirms Major Character Death and New Role

Fans of CBS's popular drama "Fire Country" have reason to rejoice and brace themselves for an emotionally charged fourth season, as the network has officially unveiled the first trailer for "Fire Country Season 4." Set to premiere on October 17 on CBS and stream the following day on Paramount+, the new season promises significant plot developments, including the resolution of a major cliffhanger from the Season 3 finale and the expansion of the "Fire Country" universe.
The trailer immediately addresses the grim fears of viewers by confirming the death of Vince Leone, portrayed by Billy Burke. Vince was last seen trapped with Sharon (Diane Farr) in the Buena Vista care center as its roof collapsed during the explosive Season 3 finale. While Sharon and Walter (Jeff Fahey) are revealed to have survived the inferno, Bode (Max Thieriot), Vince’s son, is seen attending his father's funeral and delivering a poignant eulogy. The trailer shows Jake (Jordan Calloway) forcefully preventing Bode from re-entering the burning building, emphasizing the severity of the situation and the lengths taken to save Bode's life.
In the wake of his father’s passing, Bode makes a solemn vow to protect Vince's town, station, and mission. This commitment fuels his ambition to become battalion chief, a role he believes is his "birthright." This desire puts him at odds with Jake, who is arguably more qualified for the position. The creators of "Fire Country" shed light on the difficult decision to kill off Vince Leone, with Tony Phelan telling TVInsider that it felt "truthful to the work that these people do" in a show centered around firefighters. Phelan explained that the loss was intended to "shake up the show and shake up our characters in the best way possible," forcing them to reassess their paths. The profound impact of Vince's death will resonate throughout Season 4, pushing the younger firefighters to grapple with growing up and defining their next steps.
Further plot points previewed in the trailer include a grieving Sharon suspending the 42 from active duty, the return of Audrey (Leven Rambin), and a significant emotional moment where Gabriela (Stephanie Arcila) confesses her continued love for Bode. It has also been confirmed that Stephanie Arcila will exit the series after the premiere episode. Adding to the cast, Emmy winner Shawn Hatosy joins this season in a role designed to help firefighters cope with loss, reflecting the season's heavy themes.
Beyond the core narrative, the "Fire Country" universe is expanding with the debut of "Sheriff Country Season 1," starring Morena Baccarin as Mickey Fox. This new series will premiere alongside "Fire Country Season 4" on October 17, with both shows designed to interweave and create a connected universe. "Fire Country" itself is inspired by Max Thieriot’s real-life experiences growing up in Northern California fire country, with Thieriot also holding producing and writing credits. While neither "Fire Country" nor "Sheriff Country" has been formally renewed beyond the upcoming season, strong viewership is expected to lead to future pickups. For those looking to catch up, the first two seasons of "Fire Country" are available on Netflix, while new episodes will require a Paramount+ subscription.
