Shocking Revelation: Why a 'Face/Off' Star Demanded to Be Killed Off!

Taylor Sheridan's acclaimed series "Landman" has officially returned for its second season on Paramount+, bringing with it a fresh wave of challenges and intriguing new characters. Following the dramatic shake-up of the Season 1 finale, Billy Bob Thornton's character, Tommy, is confronted with significant obstacles exacerbated by the arrival of Andy Garcia as Galino and Demi Moore stepping into the role of Cami Miller, replacing her late husband. Season 2 sees attorneys Rebecca Falcone, played by Kayla Wallace, and Nate, played by Colm Feore, grappling with the aftermath of Season 1’s chaos. Their storyline focuses on the arduous task of cleaning up the existing mess, rebuilding trust within the company, and navigating an increasingly complex and high-stakes environment, where things are set to get even "crazier" as they strive to help the company survive.

During an interview, Wallace and Feore delved into the intricacies of their characters' journeys, highlighting the necessity of "building a new relationship" to ensure the company's survival. Rebecca, in particular, is seen embracing her new role, which allows audiences to witness previously unseen facets of her personality as she works alongside Nate to salvage their enterprise. The actors also praised co-creator Christian Wallace and Taylor Sheridan for their commitment to maintaining the show's authentic portrayal of the oil industry. Much of this authenticity stems from Christian Wallace's "Boomtown" podcast, which involved extensive interviews with real people in the oil and gas sector. Industry professionals have largely affirmed the show's accuracy, with residents of Fort Worth expressing pride in its depiction of their world, showcasing the genuine risks and rewards inherent in the oil business, albeit with some dramatic license for narrative purposes. Colm Feore recalled meeting a real oil and gas attorney who perfectly matched his character's portrayal, further cementing the show's factual basis.

Kayla Wallace also shed light on the demanding nature of bringing Rebecca Falcone to life, specifically addressing Taylor Sheridan's notoriously lengthy and intricate legal monologues. Wallace described the monologues as initially intimidating due to their size and the specialized legal jargon. However, she emphasized Sheridan’s skill in crafting them to flow naturally, allowing her to find the emotional "peaks and valleys" within the dense text. Her preparation involves rigorous practice, walking by the river in Fort Worth and rehearsing lines repeatedly in her car, ensuring the complex dialogue becomes ingrained and delivered with conviction, effectively allowing her to "kill it" on screen.

Beyond "Landman," Colm Feore reflected on his earlier career, specifically his memorable role as the face-off doctor in John Woo's iconic 1997 film, "Face/Off," starring Nicolas Cage and John Travolta. Feore recounted how, due to time and budget constraints during filming, director John Woo made a significant creative decision regarding the death scenes of several characters. Originally conceived as individual, elaborate demises—such as a car chase off a cliff, being set on fire, or shot in a parking lot—Woo opted to consolidate them by having all characters tied together with string and the room set ablaze. Feore humorously recalled his personal concern during the scene was a long-awaited dinner reservation at Wolfgang Puck's that night, rather than the staged inferno. Looking to the future, both Wallace and Feore expressed an exciting crossover idea for "Landman," suggesting a potential integration with another Taylor Sheridan production, "Lioness," hinting at intriguing possibilities for their characters in a new, perhaps more action-oriented setting that would require lawyers on a glamorous, undercover mission.
