Shocking: Mounjaro Mum 'Forgets to Feed Kids' Due to Appetite Suppression, Sparks Outrage

A mother taking the weight-loss drug Mounjaro has sparked a considerable debate on TikTok after admitting she sometimes “forgets to feed” her children due to the appetite-suppressing effects of the medication. The woman, who has achieved significant weight loss, made the revelation over a series of images on her page, stating, “Thanks. Sometimes I forget to feed them because I’m on Mounjaro,” and adding, “Not easy remembering these little people are hungry.”

Mounjaro is a GLP-1 drug administered weekly via injection, which functions by suppressing appetite to aid in weight loss. This mechanism can lead to reduced hunger cues, not only for oneself but, as the mother described, can inadvertently impact the awareness of others' hunger, specifically her children.

The TikTok post quickly went viral, igniting a fierce discussion in the comments section. A segment of users expressed shock and condemnation, with one commenter writing, “I can forget a lot but definitely not feeding them,” and another sharing, “My son’s nana is the same, I now pack him packed lunch when he goes.” Some even speculated on potential “good generational benefits” if it adjusted children's eating habits away from overfeeding, although this was a less common viewpoint.

However, what proved more surprising was the overwhelming number of people who found the mother's experience “relatable” and offered support. Many users echoed similar sentiments, with comments like, “I can relate. I don’t feel hungry at all! So meal times are all over the place, I forget they feel hungry!” Another user recounted, “My boy said ‘mum I’m hungry now’ - it was 6pm and he hadn’t had his tea.” The phenomenon extended beyond children, with one person admitting, “Nah I did the same to my cat the other day and found her trying to get into the bin.”

In response to this shared experience, many users, including the original poster, revealed they had resorted to practical measures to ensure their dependents were fed. Setting reminder alarms on their phones became a common solution, as one person stated, “Saaaammee got a little alarm on my phone now,” and another confirmed, “Hahaha same! I’ve had to set reminder alarms to make sure I feed them!” The mother, who also responded to comments clarifying her post was light-hearted and “not that deep,” acknowledged the situation with a laugh, commenting, “Hahahah these poor MJ kiddies.” The discussion highlighted a surprising, yet seemingly common, side effect of powerful appetite-suppressing medications within the context of daily family life.
