Shakira's Triumphant Return: Global Superstars Grace Her First Post-World Cup NYC Show

Fresh from her historic performance at the first FIFA World Cup halftime show on Sunday, July 19, Shakira brought the energy of a stadium to Brooklyn’s Barclays Center the following day, Monday, July 20. This stellar night was part of the second leg of her record-breaking Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran World Tour in the U.S., notably dubbed the “World Cup Edition” on the stage’s big screen.

Shakira kicked off the first of two nights at the venue by acknowledging the previous day’s World Cup final, where Spain defeated Argentina 1–0. Expressing her excitement, she told the roaring crowd, “Well, today I’m pumped, so I’m gonna give you all I got. Because there’s nothing like when a she-wolf is back with her pack. Awooo!”

The Colombian superstar delighted the audience with several of her staples, including “Estoy Aquí,” “La Bicicleta,” and “La Tortura.” The night then unfolded with a series of surprise guest appearances that elevated the concert experience.

The first guest to join Shakira on stage was South African singer and songwriter Tyla. Together, they performed Shakira’s iconic 2006 Billboard Hot 100 No. 1 hit, “Hips Don’t Lie.” Tyla, described as the “Queen of Popiano,” impressively kept pace, singing and dancing through a catwalk that extended into the arena’s center. Dressed in a turquoise outfit that complemented Shakira’s gold attire, Tyla flawlessly executed the choreography alongside Shakira and about 20 backup dancers.

Later in the evening, British superstar Ed Sheeran made an appearance, joining Shakira for a duet of her song “Underneath Your Clothes,” which reached No. 9 on the Hot 100 in May 2002. Sheeran, casually dressed in black pants, a white T-shirt, and sneakers, played the guitar and took turns singing verses, adding a sweet harmony to the ballad.

As the night neared its end, Burna Boy surprised the audience, performing his collaboration with Shakira, “Dai Dai.” This track is not only the official song of the 2026 FIFA World Cup but also currently tops both the Billboard Global 200 and the Billboard Global Excl. U.S. charts. The performance by the Nigerian singer and the Colombian star, accompanied by her dancers, was a cheerful and colorful highlight, blending Latin pop, reggaetón, dance-pop, and afrobeats, compelling everyone to smile and dance.

The high energy of Burna Boy’s performance was seamlessly followed by another timeless World Cup anthem: Shakira’s own “Waka Waka (This Time for Africa)” from 2010, ensuring a memorable close to a night of global musical celebration.
